The art of parchment crafting is practiced using a specially treated parchment that holds up to burnishing without
cracking. Burnishing tools are made with a variety of ball sizes which allow for very delicate lines and gentle shading.
Patterns are generally traced with white ink on the front and burnished from the back. Other colors of ink can be used as well.
I also use gold for an accent color. Some styles of
parchment work use a lot of color. This can be done with oil pastels, colored pencils, watercolors, or markers - depending
upon the effect one is striving for. Colored liners behind the parchment provides the background color.
